DIBDEN BAY PORT: Associated British Ports has reiterated its proposal to develop a new container terminal at Dibden Bay on Southampton Water, despite its earlier unsuccessful proposal. This cost over £40m and was rejected by government in 2004. ABP completed its Port of Southampton Master Plan Consultation on 13 November 2009, the final version of which will be published soon. Another battle on our hands in close collaboration with Residents Against Dibden Bay Port - RADBP - and other organisations....?

THREAT TO OUR DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS?: The Planning, Climate Change and Energy Bills became law in November 2008; the Marine and Coastal Bill received Royal Assent in November 2009. There may be a big battle on our hands, particularly concerning Dibden Bay.

THE DRAFT NATIONAL POLICY STATEMENT FOR PORTS: The Secretary of State for Transport intends to designate this under the Planning Act 2008. The same concerns arise relating to our rights to influence planning under the three Acts referred to in the above paragraph. We will comment accordingly to government by the deadline of 15 February.

RADIOACTIVE WASTE AT FAWLEY: We are objecting to the proposal to transport radioactive waste from Sellafield to the foreign owned incinerator at Fawley, on the grounds that it may be a health hazard. It is also likely to act as a precedent for the importation of radioactive waste from abroad.
